Why choose grain-free pet food?
Posted by Warren Smith on
We all want the best pet food and pet supplies for our furry friends, whether they are dogs or cats. One attribute that any pet food expert will advise is that you opt for a grain-free product. But what is grain-free dog food, and is there grain-free cat food, too?
Understanding the term grain-free
The next time you read pet food reviews or visit your local pet food store, you may see the term grain-free everywhere. So, what do pet food brands mean by this? Grain-free means the food does not contain ingredients like wheat, soy, corn, rice, oats, barley, etc.
Innocent Hound: Why grain free dog food?
When setting up our factory in Yorkshire, we decided to be grain-free. We do not handle or add grains to any of our products.
This means our products, including dog food, dog treats, and cat food, are grain-free.
We work with only the best ingredient suppliers; however, we cannot guarantee that they do not come into contact with grain materials throughout their processes.
Why grain free dog food is better…
Grains are not considered an essential part of a dog’s diet. While they do not necessarily pose an immediate health risk, dog food reviews and other outlets have a lot of conjecture about the risks and rewards of including grains in your dog’s food bowl.
Some dogs may be allergic to grains or even put on excess weight if exposed to excessive amounts. If you have a slender French Bulldog or a Welsh Terrier on a special diet, it might be best to compare dog food options for grain-free options.
Do cats need grain free diets?
Again, there’s a lot of conjecture as to whether cat food brands need to be grain-free or not. Cats, by nature, are carnivores as they have ancestry from wild cats that had to hunt for their food. Pet food online forums often get into heated debates about the pros and cons of a cat being on a grain-free diet or having grains. Our cat food pouches contain no grains as we are a grain-free site.
