Love your pet day: How to celebrate?
Posted by Warren Smith on
Did you know that February 20th, every year, is ‘Love Your Pet Day’? It’s more commonly known in the United States – but this wouldn’t be the first tradition to have crossed the Atlantic if we decided to show our furry friends a party.
A longer walk on Love Your Pet Day?

What dog doesn’t love a walk? It’s common for dogs to like going out on a long jaunt, so why not take an extended stroll on Love Your Pet Day? You’ll earn a few more steps, and it might be fun to explore a new route. Your Welsh Terrier (or another breed) will love the sense of the adventure.
Of course, cats can enjoy a walkout – although they might not want to be out for too much longer than their regular waltz around their perimeter.
Get them some new toys?

We treat our pets as well as or even better than our children, sometimes! New dog and cat toys can be a real hit with your animal as they become engaged with the new plaything and value you for it.
Any self-respecting cat loves chasing dangling objects, so a mouse-shaped leather dangler with catnip should go down well! If you have a dog, you can go far wrong with a new rope toy, especially if it has an antler attached!
Change your routine for a day or night with them
Our animals are intelligent. While they might not mark off the days like we do Monday to Sunday, they comprehend routine. If you’re always going out to yoga class on Thursday nights, there’s a fair chance they will understand when you’re suddenly on the sofa instead. Spending this additional time with them, playing with them, listening to music with them or watching TV with them might be a welcome surprise.
Take some lovely photographs of your pet

If you have a pet and a social media account, your pet is already the subject of many pictures. Why not spend more time and effort taking some lovely photos of them? Or share the joy of Love Your Pet Day with as many people as possible on your social media profile.
Grooming session?

Not every cat and dog loves getting groomed; some hate maintaining their claws and coats. However, most will appreciate the effort after the process has taken place. If they don’t mind it, why not spend time pampering them on Love Your Pet Day? You could even take them through the same routine as you did for National Love Your Pet Day 2024 if you remember it.
Treat them to some Innocent Hound or Innocent Cat…
Of course, you could show your dog or cat some love by giving them quality food or treats. Our food and treats are made with the finest quality ingredients and handcrafted by us in our bespoke factory setup in Yorkshire. You could have some dog food delivered for them!
Needless to say, they’ll love our grain free foods (unlike many other cat food brands) – as we have multiple flavours for them to enjoy, including:
- British Beef Stew for Dogs
- British Lamb Casserole for Dogs
- Puppy training treats – great for young pups!
- Salmon and Tuna food for Cats
- Duck and Venison food for Cats
- Tuna and Crab Slices with Parsley for Cats
Which one to choose? Head to the specific product pages or other blog article posts we’ve made, explaining the benefits of our products and some of the ingredients found in their composition.
You don’t need a ‘day’ to love your pet
As animal lovers, we aren’t blind to the fact that having a day to love your pet specifically is a little redundant. We love our pets 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. You might want to spoil your pets on this day with some of the ideas above, but we know your love for your pets is unwavering. That said, we still wish you a happy love your pet day!
